f1's week break news
question 1
Post the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix drivers have been warned about their use of bad language in podium interviews. What is your view on the situation?
@jo_johnson63 : I quite like the podium interviews but sometimes they are a bit awkward if, for example, the local mayor or someone who doesn't really know the sport interviews the drivers. It flows much better when an ex F1 driver or similar conducts the interviews. Having said that, bad language is not ideal as young fans are watching. I like the raw emotions of the drivers straight out of the car and before PR have got to them, but as emotions are running high and adrenaline pumping perhaps a small time delay just in case may be the answer.
@joshbohnf1 : It's called bad language for a reason! No reason to use it at all. #Fanformula
@cbeSudha : In the heat of the moment drivers may use some colourful language. Some latitude should be given. In Abu Dhabi in the Podium interview, for grownup F1 fans it really wasn't big issue. But with young kids watching, it is better to keep it clean. Frankly, the English language has enough words for drivers to express themselves and they don't need to resort to swearing.

question 2
Tony Fernandes has stepped down from his team principal role at Caterham with Cyril Abiteboul taking over the position. What is your opinion on Tony's decision and is it a good thing for the team?
@MarussiaF1Will : I knew in Singapore he was going to leave at some point, but as he's busy with other ventures, it was time for him to go. It hasn't been a great three years for the team, despite saying they're going to be in the midfield for the past two seasons. They're very complacent, all talk with no action. They've gone backwards in terms of development and will be the 11th best team in F1. As for Cyril taking over, he hasn't got any experience of being a team principal so will take him to settle. Marussia will improve a lot over the winter and Caterham might struggle to keep up with them as there will be no significant changes to the CT02, and also they'll have Charles Pic (who's had a great rookie year) and Giedo van der Garde as drivers.
@hedgeryhoops : It's a good thing for the team at this stage of their development. Fernandes was needed more when the team was in their initial stages to oversee the business side and create the proper infrastructure, but now the team needs someone in that role who is more involved with F1 in a day to day basis. Not only can Fernandes not immerse himself fully with Caterham due to his other business ventures, but also because he lacks the knowledge of F1 itself for the team to grow to it's full potential. I really hope they will progress well next season, as 2012 has been a thorough disappointment,

question 3
This week saw the Abu Dhabi Young Drivers test but with McLaren opting to use long term test driver Gary Paffett for some of the sessions. Do you think it is fair for teams to use the opportunity for testing parts and car developments over the purpose of the test to 'develop F1 drivers of the future'?
@NigelBeechey : I guess if its 'permitted' there's no reason why everyone cant benefit from the opportunity?

bonus question
Now that Austin is finally just days away what are your initial thoughts on the location and event ahead of its debut on the Formula One calendar?
@multicooldude34 : I looks a great circuit, great facilities, and I have no doubt's it will be a great race. Bring on Austin! I am always excited to see a new F1 circuit in action and I will look forward t watching this race.
@RemiBernard : I think it's great to have a USGP again. I also think holding it in Texas is kinda weird.
@DarshanChokhani : It was interesting that they chose Texas over lot of popular cities in US. But Texas will bring a different flavour to the calender. The track seems great with best parts used form all big tracks in the world. The big elevation changes, bigger than India will be good to see. Will be great to see how US fans embrace F1 back. And then cowboys hats will be sold in huge numbers. Yeehaw!!
